About NYC: Hot Neighborhoods: Sunset Park

underline

Nestled in the hills of western Brooklyn, Sunset Park is a diversified neighborhood known for its great views, delicious foods and classic brownstone apartments.

Named after a local park, Sunset Park resides on one of the highest points in all of the City. This gives residence and visitors the ability to see glimpses of the surrounding area that are rarely seen elsewhere. This includes fantastic views of other areas of Brooklyn, Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty and New Jersey.

The population of Sunset Park is comprised of the type of diversity you expect and want in a NYC neighborhood. There is a large Chinese (Sunset Park is actually home to what is known as the Chinatown of Brooklyn) and Hispanic presence, as well as many other ethnic groups. This has led to the opening of some great ethnic restaurants, which provides plenty of opportunities to taste the best of different cultures.

Even though there is easy access to public transportation (with bus lines, subway lines and even a ferry station within the neighborhood), Sunset Park is rarely visited by tourists. This gives it the very unique feeling of solitude within the busy City. With fewer crowds and traffic, locals spend their time fishing off the piers, shopping, walking through the neighborhood and of course, enjoying the views from Sunset Park.
