About NYC: Hot Neighborhoods: Lower East Side

underline

The Lower East Side is rapidly experiencing the demolition of longstanding nightclubs and bars, such as the Luna Lounge, to make way for luxury NYC apartments.

Bounded by the areas of Houston Street, Canal Street and FDR Drive, the Lower East Side is home to what once was the largest Jewish community in NYC. Like the progression of most other areas in New York, the Lower East Side now finds itself to be a true multicultural blend. The neighborhood is complete with French cafes, hip boutiques, mom and pops and Spanish bodegas. True to its original heritage, one can still feast on a pastrami sandwich and eat out of a barrel of pickles at Katz's Delicatessen, the oldest New York deli (founded in 1888).

CitySites offers thousands of apartment listings throughout the NYC area. From Lower East Side apartments rentals to condos for sale in Harlem, you can find complete real estate listings using the navigation to the left. And be sure to check out other hot New York City neighborhoods like Jackson Heights and East Williamsburg.
